About Valencia’s Mock Trial Team

Coaches:

Valencia’s Mock Trial team has been coached by Social Science teacher Nathalie Ferreiro since 2007.

Attorneys Vanessa Huey and Dan Tusa, of Bollington & Roberts, have worked with us since 2008.

Valencia graduate and 2008 co-captain Cambria Findley-Grubb works with the team as an assistant coach.

Team Members:

Valencia’s 2009-2010 team is made up of 39 team members. Mock Trial students are highly motivated and strong academically, and the team includes many students who are part of our prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

This year, due to the exponential growth of the program over the past few years, we will have two teams, Valencia Gold and Valencia Blue.

  • Playoff Round 7: Tuesday Dec. 8
  • Final Round: Saturday Dec. 12

Competition Information:

Trials are held at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.

57 South to the 5 South (on the left)
Exit Main St. SOUTH; merge onto N. Main St.
Turn Right onto Civil Center Drive W. and park in lots 6 or 8. There are also meters available along Parton, across the street.

Trials begin promptly at 5 PM. Please plan to arrive by 4:45 to avoid delays or disrupting the trial.

  • The courthouse is a full-security facility that includes a metal detector.
  • Upon entering, please find the registration desk on the second floor and ask what courtroom Valencia High School will be competing in.
  • Please do not bring small children, as the trials are long and without breaks, and disruptions can negatively affect team performance and scores.
  • Once inside the courtroom, no communication is allowed with team members or with the coach.
  • Also, please turn off all cell phones and pagers.
  • No still or video cameras are allowed except for one brought by each team. Please contact the coach if you would like a copy.
